Our Economy

Did you know that Oklahoma is ranked 7th in the nation as one of the poorest states?

It's time to put our families first. As your candidate for House District 37, I am committed to easing the financial strain on hardworking individuals and ensuring that every Oklahoman has the opportunity to thrive. For too long, low and middle-income families in our state have carried an unfair burden of taxes, making it increasingly difficult to make ends meet and build a better future for themselves and their children. That ends now.

Although branded as a "low tax" state, Oklahoma is a top 10 state for the highest taxes on its low-income households. The effective income tax rate for the poorest 20% in Oklahoma is 13.2% while the top 1% pay 6.2%. Now the political parties that run our state are pushing to eliminate the state income tax. Don't be fooled! While this may provide a small relief to our state's low and middle-income families and individuals, it really benefits the top earners in our state.

I believe in a fair and equitable tax system—one that prioritizes the needs of working families over special interests and big corporations. That's why, if elected, I will fight tirelessly to remove the tax burden on low and middle-income Oklahomans by sponsoring legislation that promotes restructuring the current income tax system to ensure all Oklahomans pay their fair share for the sake of our public education, infrastructure, social programs, and economy.

So, what's the plan?

1.) Progressive Tax Reform: I will advocate for progressive tax reforms that ensure the wealthiest among us pay their fair share, while providing relief for those who need it most. By closing corporate loopholes and implementing a more equitable tax structure, we can alleviate the financial strain on low and middle-income families.

2.) Tax Credits and Deductions: I will work to expand tax credits and deductions for working families, including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC). These measures will put more money back into the pockets of hardworking Oklahomans, allowing them to invest in their futures and support their families.

3.) Property Tax Relief: I will push for property tax relief initiatives that provide much-needed assistance to homeowners and renters struggling to afford housing costs. By implementing targeted relief programs and increasing transparency in property tax assessments, we can ensure that no family is forced out of their home due to rising taxes.

4.) Investing in Education and Healthcare: I am committed to investing in our public education and healthcare systems to alleviate the financial burden on families. By adequately funding our schools and expanding access to affordable healthcare, we can reduce the out-of-pocket expenses that weigh heavily on low and middle-income households.

Together, we can build a brighter future for all Oklahomans—one where every family has the opportunity to thrive and succeed. Join me in putting families first and removing the tax burden on low and middle-income individuals across our state.

Education / Investing In Our Future

Oklahoma, compared to other states, is ranked 49th in Education. In 2022 the percentage of 8th grade students in Oklahoma who performed at or above the Nation's Report Card for reading and math proficiency was only 21% and 16% respectively. For reading, that's a 5 percentage point decline from 2019's 26% and a 9 percentage point decline from 1998's 30%. For math, that's a 10 percentage point decrease from 2019's 26%. Being so familiar with Oklahoma's education system, having graduated from Woodland High School in Fairfax, Oklahoma in 2020, helps me realize that our public schools need more funding, not just our charter schools. I firmly believe that all Oklahomans should have access to a quality education and to be able to learn in a safe environment. It's time we invest in education to realize these goals within our state because,

Our students deserve better.

So, what's the plan?

In the midst of our education system's decline, our current representative, bragged about having banned "critical race theory" in public school classrooms. Let me be clear. "Critical Race Theory" is a term used by political extremists as a boogeyman tactic to make political tools out of Oklahoma's youth. Oklahoma's children are not political props to be used by corrupt politicians within the state, they are the future of our state. If we don't change course now, Oklahoma will be doomed to fail in the future.

We need to invest in our educators and school staff so that they may provide a positive learning environment for all Oklahoma children. We need to provide more funding for our public-school districts and take tax-payer dollars back from private institutions and put them back into our State's public education system.

My promise to you.

I'm a recent graduate of Oklahoma's Public Education System, I'm more familiar and in-touch with the needs of our rural communities and their school-districts than any representative who's graduated in the past 20 years because I've lived through it. If elected, I promise to only advocate, vote, and sponsor bills that help Oklahoma protect and invest in Oklahoma's educational environment. We need schools that provide a quality education, regardless of zip code, for all Oklahomans, not just those who can afford it. We need to put tax-payer dollars back into public education, while also allowing our private schools the opportunity to thrive.

Oklahoma's Infrastructure Crisis

Our beloved state is facing a critical infrastructure crisis.

For too long, essential roads, bridges, schools, and public facilities have been neglected, leading to a dangerous state of disrepair. The time for action is now!

We cannot afford to ignore the crumbling infrastructure any longer. It jeopardizes our safety, hampers economic growth, and undermines the quality of life for all Oklahomans. That's why our movement is calling for urgent attention to address this pressing issue.

A twenty-five (25) billion-dollar investment is needed to tackle deferred maintenance and repair failing infrastructure across our state. This investment will not only create thousands of jobs but also ensure safer roads, reliable utilities, and modernized facilities for generations to come.

We cannot afford to kick this can down the road any longer.

Let's come together, prioritize our future, and invest in Oklahoma's infrastructure. Together, we can build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Oklahoma for all.

Bridging the Gap: Expanding Healthcare Access in Rural Oklahoma

In the heartland of our great state, our rural communities face unique challenges, and chief among them is access to quality healthcare. As your candidate for Oklahoma's 37th House District, I am committed to bridging the gap and ensuring that every Oklahoman, regardless of zip code, has access to the healthcare they need and deserve.

For too long, families in rural Oklahoma have had to travel long distances or forgo necessary medical care altogether due to a lack of healthcare facilities and providers in their communities. This is unacceptable, and it's time for real change.

Here's my plan to expand healthcare access in rural Oklahoma:

1.) Investing in Rural Healthcare Infrastructure: I will fight to invest in our rural healthcare infrastructure by expanding funding for critical access hospitals, community health centers, and telemedicine services. By modernizing and expanding our healthcare facilities, we can ensure that rural Oklahomans have access to essential medical services close to home.

2.) Recruiting and Retaining Healthcare Providers: I will work to recruit and retain healthcare providers in rural areas by offering incentives such as loan forgiveness programs, residency placements, and competitive salaries. By addressing the shortage of healthcare professionals in rural communities, we can improve access to care and enhance health outcomes for residents.

3.) Expanding Medicaid: I am committed to expanding Medicaid coverage in Oklahoma to provide affordable healthcare to thousands of uninsured residents, including many in rural areas. Medicaid expansion will not only improve access to care but also bolster the financial stability of rural hospitals and healthcare providers.

4.) Promoting Preventive Care and Wellness Programs: I will prioritize preventive care and wellness programs in rural communities to address underlying health disparities and promote overall well-being. By investing in initiatives such as nutrition education, preventive screenings, and chronic disease management, we can empower individuals to take control of their health and prevent costly medical emergencies.

5.) Advocating for Affordable Prescription Drugs: I will advocate for policies to lower the cost of prescription drugs and ensure that rural residents can afford the medications they need to stay healthy. By increasing transparency in drug pricing and promoting generic alternatives, we can alleviate the financial burden on families and seniors.

Together, we can build a healthier future for rural Oklahoma—one where every resident has access to the healthcare services they need to thrive. Join me in bridging the gap and expanding healthcare access in our rural communities.

Together, we can make it happen.

Prioritizing Workers' Rights

Our Oklahoma working class has been the soul of our state since the beginning. Whether it be farmers, factory employees, or any individual that contributes to our state's economy; They are essential to our success and to the success of Oklahoma's economy.

It's about time we treat them that way.

So, what's the plan?

Unions are the protectorate of the worker, however, Oklahoma is a "Right to Work" state. Workers aren't stripped of union benefits when they stop paying dues. Right to Work Laws are designed not to offer freedom but in the hopes that unions will be overburdened by workers who do not want to, or cannot, pay their dues and will, eventually, fail. Right to Work Laws are designed with the ultimate intent to benefit the employer at the cost of the workers. By strengthening workers unions in the State of Oklahoma, we will deliver the power to negotiate back to the people. We have the power to present everyday Oklahomans with the opportunities they deserve. That includes a proper salary. Oklahoma's minimum wage has remained stagnant while the cost of everything has gone up, putting our working families in a dire position of living paycheck to paycheck and worrying about how they're going to make ends meet. We must fight to increase the minimum wage in Oklahoma to create a sufficient paycheck for every Oklahoman, and to foster a better living environment for all.

My promise to you.

If elected, I promise to only advocate, sponsor, and vote for bills that put our Oklahoma workers first. They are our soul of Osage and Kay County and of Oklahoma, and they deserve a fair wage. I pledge to strengthen the power of our unions, in order to promote and ensure a fair workplace and allow for solidarity among Oklahoma's workers.
